Who we are

Privacy Compliance

We ensure our website complies with privacy policy laws in Canada and other countries where we operate.

Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address, and browser user agent string to help with spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience, so you don’t have to fill in your details again for future comments. These cookies last for one year.

When you visit our login page, we set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we set up several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login persists for two weeks. If you log out, the login cookies are removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie is saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.

Embedded Content

Articles on our site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, articles). Embedded content from other websites behaves the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracking if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Data Sharing

We do not share or sell your personal data. If we need to share your data with a third party, you will be notified, and your consent will be sought. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Data Retention

We retain comments and their metadata indefinitely to recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically. For registered users, we store the personal information provided in their user profiles. Users can see, edit, or delete their personal information anytime, except they cannot change their username. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Your Data Rights

If you have an account or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you provided. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you, except for data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Data Transfer

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. We capture IP addresses and email addresses when visitors or users submit a form or view a module. This information is not sold or disclosed to anyone and is kept indefinitely in a secure location.

Third-Party Services

Cookies and Tracking

We may use services such as hustle which employ cookies to count module views. Cookies might handle other features such as display settings, user comments, and subscriptions.
